A Depressing Sight

After the announcement a week ago that Robinsons, both at KLCC and Gardens Mall would be ceasing operations, Anita and I finally managed to go and have a look. The place was already almost empty with staffs clearing the shelves and had put their items in boxes ready to ship out.

It certainly was a depressing sight. We could still remember coming here last year to shop. But have only been back once before last Raya when Nala had a sale there. Things just appeared surreal ... There weren’t even much for us to buy already. After the announcement, shoppers had been coming here and snapped up the items on sale.

The restaurants downstairs where we had our occasional fix of halal wagyu steak remains open as it was owned by Four Season’s Hotel next door. But it was not as crowded as it has been. With the further extension of CMCO until December, I think more departmental stores would suffer the same fate. Shoppers were either worried about the infection when they go out, or now they prefer to keep their disposable income for rainy days ahead. These are uncertain times ...
