End of a Long Weekend

The weekend had finally ended, and this would be the real start for the year after the Chinese New Year was out of the way. As expected, I had to be on call during this period, but traditional it tended to be the more quiet time of the year. And it proved so.

The three day weekend started with me being on Medical call on Saturday. Practically no admission until after midnight, resulting in an early start and an afternoon out for lunch with Anita after that.

We went out to Pavilion, reaching there before noon. The car park was still empty, and after the meal, we went for a walk across Starhill only to find that the place had been closed for renovations. The space used to be occupied by the tea pallor was already completely clear. So, we decided to be adventurous.

We took the MRT to Pasar Seni and headed towards Lorong Panggung. Unfortunately, Kwai Chai Hong was closed. Luckily, Luckin Kopi was open, and we decided to crash there. Anita was well impressed, despite being still full from the earlier lunch. She was snapping away at the decorations. We trekked back to the MRT station to Bukit Bintang, again taking things slow. Typical for this time of the year, it was sweltering outside.

Our next stop was at Publika for some groceries and take out for dinner. While Anita was shopping, I sat down at one of the cafes, plotting for what to do the rest of the break. I decided to watch a TV series. It was a toss-up between Project Blue Book and Treadstone. Blue Book won, and I watched half of the first season by the end of Monday.

Monday was more subdued, just like the dull weather. KL was still empty, but the highways leading into KL was chock full of dwellers returning from their holidays. We spent lunchtime sorting out our Setapak Indah place which was being painted. Unfortunately, the supervisor made a mess of our colour choice, and our neighbour was irate! A quick stop at Sunway Putra Mall followed before I settled in back home for the rest of the afternoon. I caught up with the Grammy’s and the NFL All-Star Game, while also learning about the tragic death of Kobe Bryant earlier that morning.

Back to work tomorrow but I have things already planned for the rest of the week. It will be busy from tomorrow, and that would mean an early night tonight .... hopefully!
